Ultra 1k FAQs

2021 Goal

This year our goal is to raise $15,000 so that we can donate $5,000 to each of the amazing food pantries that we are supporting this year.

Last year, due to incredible participation from sponsors and competitors, we were able to donate over $8,000 back into our community.

Why a 1K?
Why not? We're putting this on to help the families of the Kearsarge Lake Sunapee Community Food Pantry, Newport Food Pantry and Warner Food Pantry. We want it to be a fun event for all!

How far is a 1K?
This is a 1-kilometer race, 0.62 miles, 3,280ft of powerful walking, jogging, running or shuffling. A distance that anyone can finish. We believe everybody should race at their own pace.

What do I get for my registration fee?
You can brag to your family and friends that you did it and helped to raise money for those in need. It's a great outdoor activity to do while we are all socially distancing! We also have prizes for:

Fastest overall Male
Fastest overall Female
Slowest verified 1k
Best obstacle course
Best Black & Red outfit/costume
Most 1k's from May 1 to May 30th.

For prizes, we will need the upload of your activity report and a picture.

How do I sign up?
You can do it online here!

When can I complete MY 1K?

You can sign up and run anywhere and anytime you want starting May 1 until May 30th! Seriously, anywhere you want; the road, the woods or even your backyard. Don't forget the obstacle course. Just remember to socially distance yourself from others. Do it as many times as you want, with a donation, and the most entries could win a prize.

What if I am not a serious runner?
Then this race is for you! It’s for fun and to help raise money and do something in the community.

What if I AM a serious runner?

Then this race is for you too! Top finishers will win a prize and this could be your fastest time yet.

What should I wear to the race?
Wear something fun! We are going to have prizes for the best red and black costumes/outfits. Dress weather appropriate.

Where do the proceeds from the 1K go?
Net proceeds will be split between Kearsarge Lake Sunapee Community Food Pantry, Newport Food Pantry and Warner Food Pantry!

Kearsarge Lake Sunapee Community Food Pantry – They were established to help meet the emergency and everyday food and household needs of people in the Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee region who are experiencing financial hardship.  The towns for this outreach include:  Andover, Bradford, Danbury, New London, Newbury, Salisbury, Springfield, Sunapee, Sutton, Warner and Wilmot. They are up to 120 volunteers who help out.

In 2020, they served 1,217 households, which amounted to 3,483 people. In the later part of the year they had increased numbers, with nearly 100 families new to the Food Pantry.

Newport Food Pantry – They are located in Newport to help those in need with everyday food and household items. They not only service Newport but also service Sunapee, Croydon, Goshen, Lempster and Unity. They serve more than 150 families per month.

In 2020, they went from their normal 20 volunteers to 1 volunteer and 1 director, due to COVID. They did service almost 100 new families last year.
